PERSONAL PROFILE 

Alam Md. Mahbub is a professor at the Shenzhen Graduate School of Harbin Institute of Technology (China) since 2012. He worked as a senior lecturer at the University of Pretoria (South Africa), research and postdoctoral fellows at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and lecturer at the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Bangladesh). He received MEng and PhD degrees from Kitami Institute of Technology, Japan, in 2001 and 2004, all in Mechanical Engineering. More than 200 technical articles are authored and coauthored, including 90 journal papers, most of which have been published in the topnotched journals, including Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Journal of Fluids & Structures, Physics of Fluids, and Journal of Sustainable and Energy Reviews. Seven of the journal papers got positions in the lists of ‘TOP 25 hottest articles’ and one paper has got a position in TOP 1% highly cited articles in 2016 by THOMPSON REUTERS as of Science Indicator. He is the author of two books and 18 chapters in books. He has edited two special issues in ‘Wind and Structures, an International Journal’ and a conference proceeding published in Research publishing, Singapore. He has delivered 12 Keynote speeches at international conferences. His research has mostly involved fluid dynamics around single and multiple cylinders, flowinduced vibrations, fluidstructure interactions, airfoil aerodynamics, renewable energy, and flow controls. He has secured a total of RMB9 million research funding from national and international levels.
Prof Alam has received a number of awards: Japan Government Scholarship (monbusho) for Masters and PhD studies; JSPS (Japan Society for Promotion of Science) Postdoctoral fellowship; South Africa National Research Foundation (NRF) rating ‘Promising Young Researcher, Y1’; China 1000youngtalent scholar (青年千人计划); Shenzhen HighLevel Overseas Talent; Shenzhen HighLevel Professional; 2015 Shenzhen Outstanding Teacher; 2017 NanshanDistrict HighLevel Talent, and 2016 HIT Creative Talent Teacher. He has also received 05 best paper awards from different conferences. He is an editorial board member of ‘Wind and Structures, an International Journal’ and Chief Topic Editor of Frontiers: BluffBody Aerodynamics and FluidStructure Interactions. He has been acting as a reviewer for the toplevel journals, e.g., Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Journal of Fluids and Structures, Experiments in Fluids, Physics of Fluids, Ocean Engineering, International Journal of Heat and Fluid Flow, Journal of Sound and Vibrations, Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics.
