Biomedical Signal

Biomedical engineering is an interiscipline area, which plays a key role in life science and biomedical research. From engineering angle, theory of signal, signals of biology and human bodies and related signal processing technologies are very important in this area. On one hand, the biomedical signals research roots from traditional signal processing theory and technology. On the other hand, biomedical signal processing has its unique characteristics. Thus through the study on biomedical signals, we can learn the physiological processes and biological characteristics of signals from human beings. Therefore, we can characterize and analyze human's life, physiological phenomena and processes by signal feature extraction. Furthermore, physiology of some diseases and related therapy methods can be discovered based on the biomedical signal processing. This course will introduce basic biomedical signals and most frequently used processing methods. During the course learning, some projects will be set to help students to practice the signal processing theories. The projects include medical instruments development, medical image processing, bio-signal simulation, and signal characteristics extraction.
